A native of London, Ontario, Jeff was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1st round, 11th pick overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He was 2nd in NHL goal scoring during the 2008-09 season with 46 goals and has scored over 20 goals in 11 of his NHL seasons.

Jeff was acquired by the Los Angeles Kings during the 2011-12 season and scored the Stanley Cup winning goal in Game 6 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals. Carter solidified his reputation as a big-game performer during the 2013-14 playoffs when he helped lead the Kings to their 2nd Stanley Cup in 3 years with 25 points in 26 playoff games.

Internationally, Carter has won gold medals with Team Canada at the U18 and U20 levels. During his U20 career, he tied as Canada’s all-time leading scorer at the World Juniors and was named to back-to-back Tournament All-Star Teams. He has also represented Canada at the 2006 IIHF World Championship and was a member of Canada’s Gold Medal winning team at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
